Mural Workshop

A few months ago I was part of a mural workshop which was supervised by Jonathan Waters.  We planned out what we were going to paint and decided on a spray-can chopped into sections.  We each got one section. It was going to be a colour spectrum so we each did mainly one colour. I did green. The bottom three pictures are the first draft for my part of the mural,  Most of the painting was by brush or roller as only a few of us had done spray-painting before.

Paintings

These are paintings which I did around about November, but didn't get round to posting them due to, well...... reasons.  (Procrastination being one of them.) My favourites are the top one and the second from the bottom. These were part of my experiment with watercolour paints, which I haven't used much before and some are on watercolour paper which I was extremely loathe to use, What if I needed it for something really important? I decided I wouldn't actually learn how to use watercolour paints very well if I didn't use watercolour paper at some point and so I used about six or seven pieces. It is a lot easier to use than just ordinary paper as it absorbs a lot more water so it doesn't get as soggy as normal paper.

Pencil Drawings

A while ago I did some drawings and thought, "I should really post these on my blog." I didn't. Now I have. I did a lot of drawings and paintings around November because I am not particularly good at finishing pictures, so I decided to practice. these are some of them. The hardest was the bottom one which was inspired by Count of Monte Cristo it took ages because of the curtains .

This is a picture story. As a brief explanation if you do not quite know what is happening, the overview is this; A young man is about to get married, he receives a letter informing him of urgent business in a different country. He is a spy. one of his 'accomplices' is a traitor and gives information to the government concerning his whereabouts. He is caught. he has permission to write one letter to his family and writes to his bride to be, telling her that he is captured. The young lady upon receiving this letter goes out by herself to think it over. While walking she is spotted by some robbers who, seeing her fancy clothes think it would be worthwhile to ransom her. She is confined and made to do their mending. She makes two escape attempts. Both fail. The robbers take more precautions. She despairs, then is rescued by her husband to be, (who escaped from his prison by means of knocking out the gu

Ships

 These are some pictures I did on the third of August. They are copied off some ship models I have wanted to copy for a while. I have finally got round to doing them and they turned out better than I had anticipated.
